Come and join one of the highest performing SEND teams in the country!

Bedford Borough Council is one of only 25% of local authorities in England to receive the top grade at its Local Area SEND Inspection, with Ofsted and CQC inspectors specifically highlighting the performance of our statutory SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) team. Following further investment in the service, we are now growing and we want talented, committed people to grow with us.

About the Role

As a SEND Officer you will manage a caseload of children and young people with Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans, working directly with young people, families, education settings and partner agencies to ensure every child or young person gets the support they deserve. This is a rewarding role. You will need a good understanding of the Children and Families Act 2014, the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and the statutory processes associated with EHC Plans. You will be managing a demanding caseload with competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You will be an excellent communicator, resilient and able to work independently and as part of a team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
