SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Weston-super-Mare

Salary: £93 - £110 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

Start Date: September 2026

Connex Education is working exclusively with a large and highly respected Multi-Academy Trust (BWMAT) that supports a wide network of schools across Somerset. About the Role

Connex Education is currently looking for SEND Teaching Assistants to support primary-aged pupils within schools across Weston-super-Mare.

This is a fantastic opportunity for caring, reliable and enthusiastic individuals who want to make a meaningful difference in local classrooms. You will support pupils with additional needs, helping them feel included, confident and ready to learn.

Working closely with class teachers, SEND teams and wider school staff, you will provide practical, emotional and educational support to pupils who may need additional guidance throughout the school day.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEND during lessons and structured activities
  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions
  • Assist children in developing confidence and independence
  • Encourage positive behaviour and classroom participation
  • Adapt support techniques to meet individual learning requirements
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and SEND staff
  • Support children's wellbeing and emotional development
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

  • SEND experience is advantageous but not essential
  • Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals is beneficial
  • Caring, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Passion for supporting young learners
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply
