About The Role
We are looking for a calm, creative and adaptable Teacher to join an Alternative Provision on a fixed-term contract. You will provide consistent, personalised teaching for children and young people who need an approach that is different from a traditional classroom.
The Teacher Role
This is a hands-on teaching role, usually working one-to-one or with a very small number of students alongside Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants. You will have the freedom to adapt lessons, use practical and interest-led activities and take the time to build trusting relationships.
We are looking for someone who understands that progress will look different for each young person. You will be patient and reflective, remain calm around behaviours of concern and be willing to change your approach when something is not working. You should be confident providing direction to support staff and working closely with families, care teams and other professionals.
Essential Criteria
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience planning and delivering personalised learning for children or young people with SEND or complex needs.
- Confidence supporting young people who may display behaviours of concern and following agreed support strategies consistently.
- Ability to build positive relationships and adapt teaching around individual learning, communication, sensory and emotional needs.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding, with good communication, teamwork and record-keeping skills.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
