SEND Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship at Kisharon Noé School
Kisharon Noé School is a specialist school in London supporting pupils aged 4-19 with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities. We are looking for enthusiastic and caring Teaching Assistant Apprentices to join our specialist education team and begin a rewarding career in education.
Apprenticeship Overview
- Salary: £8.00 per hour, automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds
- Working Week: Monday 8.30am - 5.00pm, Tuesday to Thursday 8.30am - 4.15pm, Friday 8.30am - 3.45pm
- Hours: 35.5 hours per week
- Duration: 18 months
- Qualification: Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard qualification (SEND Pathway)
- Training: Online training supported by a dedicated tutor
- Location: 54 Parson Street, Barnet, London, NW4 1TP
Responsibilities
As a Teaching Assistant Apprentice, you will:
- Support pupils to engage in lessons, activities and the wider school day
- Work with individual pupils and small groups under the direction of the class teacher
- Support pupils with communication, social interaction, independence and life skills
- Help children and young people access a highly personalised curriculum and achieve their individual goals
- Prepare learning resources and contribute to maintaining an organised and stimulating learning environment
- Support pupils with additional communication, sensory and behavioural needs using agreed strategies
- Support pupils with communication, sensory needs, behaviour, mobility, personal care, eating and drinking where required
- Observe pupils' progress and contribute to records and feedback for the class team
- Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, therapists and other professionals
- Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, colleagues and families
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection procedures at all times
- Participate fully in training, supervision and apprenticeship learning activities

Qualifications
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above desirable
- Applicants without these qualifications may be able to complete Functional Skills alongside the apprenticeship, subject to apprenticeship requirements

Training and Qualification
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end? The successful candidate will obtain a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard qualification (SEND Pathway). Each apprentice will have their own dedicated tutor who will conduct regular remote tutorials and reviews, providing continuous support throughout the apprenticeship programme.
Career Progression
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship? This apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills and experience within specialist education. Successful apprentices may have opportunities to progress into permanent roles within the school and continue developing their careers supporting children and young people with SEND.
Pre-employment Checks
Please be aware that upon a successful offer of employment, the company will complete an Enhanced DBS check with Child and Adult Barred List checks, alongside all relevant safeguarding and right-to-work checks in line with school policies and statutory guidance.
