Job title: SEND Teaching Assistant (PMLD) – Specialist School – Croydon
Location: Croydon, London
Salary: £93 - £105 per day, depending on qualifications and experience.
Start date: 9 November 2026
Contract: Full time, temporary, long term.
Hours: Term time; daily hours and assignment arrangements confirmed before placement.
Learning can begin with shared attention, a familiar sound or the chance to choose what happens next. Transparency Education is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for a specialist school role in Croydon, supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).
You will work alongside teaching staff to make activities accessible and help pupils participate as fully as possible. Care routines are an important part of this work, so we are looking for someone who combines practical reliability with sensitivity to each pupil’s comfort, dignity and preferences.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and support accessible activities based on individual learning goals.
- Notice pupils’ responses and use communication approaches agreed by the team.
- Provide personal care and assist with mobility or feeding only within agreed plans and training.
- Help pupils move between activities safely and at an appropriate pace.
- Share observations about learning, comfort and wellbeing with relevant staff.

Requirements
- Experience in SEND, disability support, health or social care.
- Confidence supporting personal care with discretion and respect.
- An observant approach and willingness to follow specialist guidance.
- Experience with sensory learning or communication aids would be helpful.
- An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to complete one as part of the recruitment process.
