SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist SEN School
Location: Lambeth, South London - commutable from Brixton, Streatham, Clapham, Stockwell.
Pay: £110-£125 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full-time
Contract: Long-term temporary with potential to become permanent
Long Term Futures is recruiting a confident and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in the Lambeth area of South London, supporting pupils with a diverse range of additional needs.
This is a varied, hands-on position where every pupil requires an individual approach. You could be providing dedicated 1:1 support, working with small groups or supporting pupils within the wider classroom environment. Needs across the school include SEND, SEMH, Autism, ADHD.
We're looking for someone who can adapt quickly, remain calm under pressure and build positive relationships with pupils who may have previously found mainstream education challenging.

As An SEN Teaching Assistant, You Will
- Provide dedicated 1:1 and small-group support based on individual pupil needs
- Support pupils with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, communication difficulties and wider SEND
- Recognise potential triggers and use proactive strategies to reduce escalation
- Implement positive behaviour and de-escalation techniques
- Support pupils who may display challenging or dysregulated behaviour
- Record progress and communicate effectively with teachers and specialist staff
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN/SEND
- Experience within a specialist SEN school, alternative provision or SEMH setting is highly desirable
- Understanding of SEMH, Autism, ADHD and complex additional needs
- Experience supporting challenging behaviour and emotional dysregulation
- Team Teach, PRICE, MAPA or similar positive handling training would be advantageous
