Could Your Youth Support Experience Make a Difference in School?
Some young people find the school day harder to navigate than others.
Busy classrooms, changes to routine, communication difficulties or emotional overwhelm can all become barriers to learning.
Thrive Education Group is recruiting SEND Youth Support Workers to work with children and young people across Halton, helping them feel more settled, confident and able to engage with education.
If you've supported young people through youth work, SEND services, care, mentoring, residential settings or community programmes, this could be a natural next step.
The Support You'll Provide
You'll work alongside school staff to provide additional support for pupils who may have:
- Autism (ASC)
- ADHD
- SEMH
- Communication Needs
- Learning Difficulties
- Sensory Needs
- Emotional Regulation Difficulties
Rather than expecting every pupil to respond in the same way, you'll get to know the individual young person and learn what helps them participate successfully.

Your Day Could Involve
- Supporting pupils one-to-one and in small groups.
- Helping young people engage with classroom activities.
- Providing reassurance during difficult moments.
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Helping pupils manage routines and transitions.
- Encouraging communication and social interaction.
- Building confidence and independence.
- Following individual SEND and support strategies.
- Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and SEND professionals.
Who Are We Looking For?
You may currently be a Youth Worker, SEND Support Worker, Children's Support Worker, Residential Support Worker, Behaviour Mentor or Care Worker.
Previous school experience isn't essential, but you'll need relevant experience working with children or young people.
You'll be someone who is calm, consistent, patient and reliable, with the ability to build strong relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, will be required.
Develop Your SEND Experience
This role gives you the opportunity to use your existing skills while developing practical experience in SEND, autism, SEMH, behaviour support, communication and pastoral care.
