Slade Primary School
Slade Primary School and Deykin Avenue J&I School are seeking an experienced and committed SENDCo to provide strategic leadership for special educational needs across both schools.
This is an exciting opportunity for a SENDCo who is passionate about inclusion and ensuring that every child receives the right support to thrive. The role will be non-class based and will work across both schools, providing consistent and effective SEN leadership while working closely with pupils, families, staff and external professionals.
The two schools are situated in close proximity, with a short drive between them, and serve similar communities. This provides an excellent opportunity to develop a collaborative approach to inclusion, share good practice and strengthen provision across both settings.
About The Role
As SENDCo, you will provide effective leadership and coordination of special educational needs provision across both schools. You will work closely with Headteachers, senior leaders and teaching staff to ensure that pupils with SEND receive high-quality support that enables them to make progress and achieve their potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and coordinating SEND provision across both schools.
- Working closely with school leaders and staff to develop inclusive practice and improve outcomes for pupils with SEND.
- Supporting teachers and support staff to identify and respond effectively to individual needs.
- Overseeing the identification, assessment and monitoring of pupils with SEND.
- Working in partnership with parents and carers to ensure positive communication and strong relationships.
- Liaising with external agencies and professionals to coordinate appropriate support and interventions.
- Supporting the development and review of SEND policies, provision and practice.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of SEND provision and using information and evidence to identify areas for development.
- Contributing to the strategic development of inclusive practice across both schools.
- Ensuring that statutory responsibilities relating to SEND are met effectively.

About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience of working effectively with pupils with a range of special educational needs.
- Has a strong understanding of SEND legislation, guidance and effective inclusive practice.
- Is an experienced teacher with, or is working towards, the appropriate SENDCo qualification, where required.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
- Is organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Can provide clear and supportive guidance to teachers and support staff.
- Is committed to working collaboratively and sharing expertise across both schools.
- Has high expectations for all pupils and is passionate about removing barriers to learning.
- Can use evidence and data to monitor provision, identify need and support improved outcomes.
- Is able to work flexibly across two schools and build positive relationships within both school communities.
