SENDIASS Caseworker (Part-Time) — Gateshead

Location: Gateshead (with travel to meetings as required)
Hours: 1 day per week (7.4 hours) — day flexible by agreement
Pay: £14.62 per hour
Benefits: Mileage paid

About the Role

We are recruiting a part-time SENDIASS Caseworker to join the Gateshead SEND Information, Advice and Support Service. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and compassionate professional to support children, young people, and parents/carers navigating the SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide impartial information, advice, and support to parents, carers, children, and young people on SEND matters
  • Support families through the SEND process, including EHC needs assessments, plans, and reviews
  • Assist with preparation for SEND Tribunal appeals and represent/support clients at meetings where needed
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records in line with service standards
  • Liaise with schools, local authority teams, and other professionals on behalf of service users
  • Attend meetings in and around Gateshead as required by casework

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a similar SENDIASS, SEND advocacy, or casework role is essential
  • IPSEA Level 1 and Level 2 training is very highly desirable
  • Strong working knowledge of SEND legislation and the tribunal process
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support families sensitively and impartially
  • Well organised, with strong casework and record-keeping skills
  • Based in or near Gateshead, with the ability to travel locally to meetings
