Company Description
RSK’s Land and Development Engineering (LDE) team brings together experienced Civil and Structural Engineers and Hydrologists who provide specialist consultancy to landowners, investors, developers, and other stakeholders both in the private and public sector. Many team members have previously worked on major projects, giving them a strong understanding of commercial drivers and project constraints. LDE delivers services covering foundation, slab, and superstructure designs, land viability and appraisals, road, sewer and infrastructure design, external works, earthworks modelling, and . The Hydrology team manages a broad range of flood risk work, from basic assessments and watercourse modelling to SuDS strategies, flood evacuation planning, and environmental statement contributions. RSK LDE also offers expert witness services, supporting complex projects and formal proceedings.

The Senior/Principal Structural Engineer will lead and deliver structural engineering projects for land and development schemes, working full time on-site in Exeter.

Responsibilities
- Undertaking and reviewing structural analysis and design for foundations, slabs, frames, and superstructures.
- Producing clear, compliant design calculations and reports.
- Coordinating with civil engineers and hydrologists, integrating structural solutions with infrastructure, earthworks, and flood risk considerations.
- Overseeing CAD outputs, checking drawings for accuracy, and ensuring designs meet relevant standards, client requirements, and buildability constraints.
- Mentoring junior team members.
- Engaging with clients and stakeholders.
- Managing project timelines and budgets.
- Contributing to bids, technical proposals, and quality assurance processes.
Qualifications
- Strong structural engineering skills, including Structural Engineering and Structural Analysis, with experience in building and infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in engineering Calculations, with the ability to produce, review, and validate detailed design outputs to applicable codes and standards.
- Competence in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for structural and civil works, and the ability to collaborate effectively with CAD technicians and designers.
- Relevant engineering degree (e.g., Civil or Structural Engineering) and chartered or near-chartered status with a recognized professional body (e.g., ICE, IStructE).
- Experience in UK design standards and regulations, including Eurocodes and Building Regulations, and familiarity with infrastructure and land development practices.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize workloads, and communicate clearly with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders in a multidisciplinary environment.
