Account Director

Confidential Search | B2B SaaS — Financial Process Automation | North West England

Client

A fast-scaling, private-equity-backed B2B SaaS company (identity disclosed to shortlisted candidates).

Reports to

Chief Revenue Officer

Location

North West England (Greater Manchester). Home-based with regular time in the Manchester office — candidates further afield will still be considered for the right profile.

Salary

Up to £85,000 base salary + uncapped commission. Additional benefits package to be confirmed.

Reporting line seniority

Senior, pivotal individual-contributor role at the top of the commercial team, working alongside a small, high-potential Manchester-based sales team.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are retained on a confidential basis by a fast-growing, award-winning B2B SaaS business to find their next Account Director. Our client automates how large organisations trade with one another — removing manual, paper-based finance processes and replacing them with fast, accurate, digital workflows. It's a genuinely exciting moment to join: revenues are up more than 50% year-on-year, the business has just moved into a larger Manchester HQ, it's backed by a private equity partner with significant further capital to deploy, and it's expanding internationally.

This role gives you a warm, established book of circa 150 existing enterprise customers, three complementary products to cross-sell and upsell, and the chance to act as a natural leader for two talented, up-and-coming salespeople already in the team. It's an individual-contributor role with real influence, direct access to the CRO, and a clear route to further seniority as the company scales.

ABOUT OUR CLIENT

Founded over a decade ago and headquartered in Manchester, our client is a multi-award-winning provider of financial process automation software — specifically Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) and Order-to-Cash (O2C) technology. In plain terms, they help large organisations digitise and automate the way they invoice, order and reconcile transactions with their trading partners, removing manual processes that cost time, money and accuracy.

What they sell

  • E-Invoicing — electronic invoice automation that integrates directly into a customer's ERP system for fast, accurate, paperless processing.
  • E-Ordering — next-generation ordering technology that removes manual purchase order handling and speeds up the buy-sell cycle between trading partners.
  • Statement Reconciliation — automated matching and reconciliation of supplier statements, a major time-saver for finance teams and a proven upsell into the existing customer base.

The platform is application-agnostic and integrates with all major ERP and back-office systems — including SAP, Oracle and Microsoft, among many others — meaning customers can be onboarded within days, not months, and with no disruption to how they already work. That speed-to-value is a genuine competitive weapon against much larger rivals.

Who they sell to

The technology was originally built for the construction and built-environment sector, where our client remains deeply trusted, but the customer base has expanded significantly into manufacturing, building materials, engineering, food & beverage, logistics, healthcare and pharmaceuticals. The platform supports thousands of B2B trading relationships globally through roughly 150 core customer accounts, including a number of genuinely major, household-name organisations across these sectors.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

That's the scale of the prize for this role: an existing, blue-chip account base with three products to cross-sell and upsell into, and a company actively pushing into new verticals where the technology is still relatively unexploited.

Growth, investment and recognition

  • Rapid growth: Our client is on course for record revenues this year, representing growth of more than 50% year-on-year.
  • Backed to scale: The business is backed by a private equity firm specialising in B2B software and technology, which is investing capital alongside hands-on sales, marketing, strategy and technology expertise to accelerate growth — with a substantial war chest earmarked for further investment in the sector.
  • New HQ: The business recently moved into a new, larger Manchester HQ as a deliberate milestone in its growth strategy — a visible sign of momentum.
  • International expansion: New strategic partnerships are opening fresh opportunities in overseas markets, including the US.
  • Award-winning: Multiple national technology and business awards for growth, innovation and delivery over the past several years.
  • Enterprise credibility: Independently accredited to leading information security and quality standards — which matters when you're selling to CFOs and FDs who need to trust a platform with financial data.
  • Experienced leadership: A board and leadership team with genuine pedigree from major, well-known software and technology businesses. You'd be joining a team that has done this before.

THE MARKET OPPORTUNITY

The global e-invoicing and financial process automation market is genuinely booming — independent analysts put it at roughly $18–24bn in 2025/26 and growing at somewhere between 15–20% a year, driven by government e-invoicing mandates sweeping across Europe and beyond, and by the simple fact that most businesses still process huge volumes of transactions manually. This is a rare combination: a regulatory tailwind, a technology-adoption tailwind, and a genuinely large pool of prospects who haven't yet digitised.

The market is dominated by large, well-funded global players. Our client competes with — and regularly beats — these much bigger names by being faster to deploy, more flexible and application-agnostic, and genuinely specialist in the sectors it serves. Where the giants offer a one-size-fits-all global network, our client offers rapid onboarding, hands-on service and deep sector knowledge, which is exactly why major names across construction, manufacturing and supply chain have chosen them and stayed.

THE ROLE

As Account Director, reporting directly to the Chief Revenue Officer, you will:

  • Own and grow a portfolio of the business's largest and most strategic existing accounts, selling across all three product lines into an established base of circa 150 customers.
  • Proactively identify, chase and qualify your own new opportunities within that account base — this is a fast-paced, hands-on sales role, not a passive account management seat. Marketing, events and technical pre-sales support is excellent, but you are expected to generate your own pipeline.
  • Sell at C-level, building relationships with senior stakeholders and, in particular, CFOs and Finance Directors — this is business-outcome selling, not feature selling.
  • Cross-sell and upsell effectively across the product suite, turning single-product customers into multi-product, higher-value accounts.
  • Manage a fast-paced sales cycle with deal sizes typically ranging from £1,500 to £20,000 in monthly recurring revenue, with the largest opportunities reaching £15,000–£25,000 MRR and total contract values of up to c.£400,000 on the biggest deals.
  • Act as a senior, credible presence in the Manchester office — the CRO is looking for someone who will be in the office regularly, not an occasional visitor — and bring informal leadership to two talented, high-potential junior salespeople already on the team. This is not a line-management role on paper, but the client wants someone whose experience, coaching instinct and example naturally raise the standard of the people around them.

WHAT OUR CLIENT IS LOOKING FOR

This is a senior hire, and the client is being selective. You should be able to demonstrate:

  • A strong track record selling complex solutions and business outcomes (not just software features) to senior stakeholders within large enterprise organisations.
  • Genuine comfort and credibility selling at C-level, ideally including CFOs, FDs or other finance decision-makers.
  • Excellent account management skills, with clear evidence of successful cross-selling and upselling into an existing customer base.
  • Experience selling into large enterprise accounts is essential — this is not an SME or transactional sales background.
  • A background in fintech, ERP, supply chain, procurement or B2B SaaS is an advantage but is absolutely not essential — attitude, coachability and a strong, transferable track record matter more than direct sector experience.
  • A proactive, self-starting mindset — comfortable finding and qualifying your own opportunities rather than waiting for inbound leads.
  • The desire to get into a scaling business early, help shape how it grows, and bring energy and leadership to those around you.
  • A North West / Greater Manchester base is ideal given the office presence required, but strong candidates from further afield will still be considered.

WHY JOIN NOW

  • Warm territory, fast ramp: You inherit an established base of c.150 enterprise accounts with three products to cross-sell — this is about growing relationships, not cold-starting a territory from zero.
  • Uncapped, well-structured earning potential: Recurring revenue deals, healthy deal sizes and a genuinely large, warm pipeline within the account base.
  • A business on the way up: Record revenue, a new HQ, fresh international market entry, and a private equity partner with real capital and expertise to deploy.
  • Direct access to leadership: You'll report straight to an experienced CRO and sit alongside a board with genuine pedigree from well-known software businesses.
  • Real progression: As the business continues to scale, this pivotal, senior IC role is a natural launchpad into broader sales leadership.
  • A platform that wins: Award-winning technology that genuinely outperforms much larger, better-known competitors on speed, service and customer retention.
