The Opportunity
My client is seeking an accomplished Senior Account Executive to convert qualified inbound conversations with privately held business owners into signed sell-side M&A advisory engagements. You will lead high-value advisory conversations, establish credibility quickly with founders and executives, and help strong-fit prospects determine whether a sale, recapitalization, or other liquidity event is the right next step.
This is a senior consultative closing role requiring strong commercial judgment, executive presence, and disciplined follow-through. You will own the relationship from the first advisory conversation through execution of the engagement letter, navigate complex questions and decision dynamics, and partner closely with senior bankers for a thoughtful transition into transaction execution.
What You Will Do
- Take ownership of qualified inbound opportunities from introduction through close.
- Lead high-value discovery conversations that uncover company background, owner goals, transaction timing, valuation expectations, and decision criteria.
- Assess transaction readiness and fit based on the owner’s objectives, expectations, timing, and advisory needs.
- Present the firm’s sell-side M&A process, capabilities, positioning, and differentiated value proposition in clear, credible language.
- Build trusted relationships with founders, business owners, and C-suite executives navigating high-stakes decisions.
- Navigate sophisticated questions and objections related to timing, fees, valuation, confidentiality, market conditions, and the advisory process.
- Create momentum through decisive next steps, tailored follow-up, and consistent executive-level communication.
- Advance qualified opportunities from discovery through proposal discussions and signed engagement letters.
- Maintain accurate CRM notes, pipeline stages, forecasts, next steps, and conversion activity.
- Coordinate a seamless transition to senior bankers once an engagement is secured, preserving context and client confidence.
- Share practical feedback on lead quality, client sentiment, messaging, market conditions, and opportunities to improve conversion.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
