Senior Strategic Account Executive – Software & IT Services

£75,000–£95,000 basic + £50,000 variable | Uncapped commission | Remote / Flexible UK

If you're good at growing existing customers but don't want your week dominated by cold prospecting, this is worth a look.

We're working with an established UK technology business that's looking for a Senior Strategic Account Executive to take ownership of a portfolio of existing customers and develop them into larger, more strategic accounts.

The important bit: this isn't a cold new-business role.

You'll be working with customers that already have an established relationship with the business. Your job is to understand them properly, build relationships further up the organisation, uncover where else you can add value and turn that into revenue.

The business sells across software, cloud, managed services, consultancy and digital transformation, so there's plenty of scope to grow accounts rather than being restricted to one product or service.

The role

You'll own a portfolio of strategic customers and be responsible for increasing their value over time.

That means getting beyond the existing contacts, understanding what's happening across the wider business and identifying where there are opportunities to do more.

You could be expanding into a new department, uncovering a software or transformation project, introducing additional managed services, or developing a relatively small customer into a much broader strategic relationship.

You'll have strong support around you from Pre-Sales, Consultancy, Technical and Delivery teams, so you're not expected to be the technical expert yourself.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You are, however, expected to be the person driving the commercial relationship.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Growing revenue across an established portfolio of customers
  • Building strategic account plans and identifying white-space
  • Developing relationships with senior stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Understanding customers' wider business plans, challenges and priorities
  • Creating new opportunities through cross-sell and upsell
  • Leading opportunities from discovery through to proposal, negotiation and close
  • Working closely with Pre-Sales and Consultancy teams to build the right solution
  • Managing your pipeline and forecasting accurately
  • Developing longer-term, higher-value relationships rather than chasing transactional sales
  • Taking genuine ownership of your accounts and your number

What we're looking for

You don't need to come from a Microsoft background.

We're much more interested in finding someone who knows how to develop complex technology accounts.

You could currently be working for a:

  • Software vendor
  • Software development company
  • IT Services / Managed Services provider
  • Systems Integrator
  • Technology consultancy
  • Digital transformation business

You'll probably already be working as a Strategic Account Manager, Account Executive, Enterprise Account Manager or Client Director and have a track record of growing existing customers.

We'd like to see evidence that you've opened up new areas within accounts, built relationships beyond your original contact and turned customer problems into genuine commercial opportunities.

This isn't a role for someone who simply keeps customers happy and manages renewals. They want someone who will ask questions, challenge where appropriate, spot an opportunity and then go after it.

That's very much in line with the original brief, which puts a premium on strategic thinking, executive credibility and proactively identifying white-space within customers.

Microsoft experience is a big plus

The business has a strong Microsoft offering, so experience around Dynamics 365, Business Central, Microsoft 365, Azure or the wider Microsoft Cloud ecosystem would definitely give you an advantage.

But it's not essential.

If you've sold complex software, IT services or consultancy solutions and know how to grow strategic accounts, they still want to speak to you.

What's on offer

  • £75,000–£95,000 basic salary
  • £50,000 target variable
  • £125,000–£145,000 target OTE
  • Uncapped commission
  • Plus:
    • Flexible / remote working
    • Unlimited annual leave
    • Private healthcare
    • Life assurance
    • Company share scheme
    • Electric vehicle scheme
    • Fully funded training and development
    • Strong Pre-Sales and technical support
    • Access to senior leadership
    • Plenty of autonomy in how you develop your accounts

Why consider it?

For me, the attraction of this role is pretty simple.

You get the earning potential and responsibility of a senior sales position without being asked to build everything from zero.

There are customers, relationships and revenue already there.

If that's the part of sales you're good at, what are you waiting for? APPLY NOW!
