About Retail Gazette

Retail Gazette is a leading media brand for the UK retail industry, reaching senior decision-makers and influential voices across the sector through digital content, events, insight and commercial partnerships.

We work with some of the biggest and most ambitious brands in retail and the wider retail ecosystem, helping them connect with our highly engaged audience through a range of innovative digital and event-led opportunities.

We’re looking for an ambitious Senior Account Manager to join our growing commercial team and play an important role in driving new business and revenue growth.

The Role

As a Senior Account Manager, you’ll be responsible for growing our existing client base helping clients use Retail Gazette’s platforms to achieve their marketing and business objectives.

This is a hands-on B2B sales role. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable picking up the phone, speaking to prospects directly and proactively creating opportunities. You should genuinely enjoy having conversations with clients and be confident taking a relationship beyond email and LinkedIn.

Face-to-face relationship building is an important part of the role. You’ll be expected to meet clients in person, attend industry events and build strong relationships with decision-makers across the retail sector. You will also be expected to make phone calls and talk with clients on Teams, rather than just email.

You’ll sell a combination of digital media and events sponsorship, working closely with the wider commercial, editorial and events teams to develop compelling proposals and deliver excellent experiences for clients.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Activity

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across the retail and wider B2B landscape.
  • Be confident and enthusiastic about picking up the phone and calling prospective and existing clients.
  • Build strong relationships with decision-makers and key client contacts.
  • Arrange and attend face-to-face client meetings to understand their objectives and present relevant opportunities.
  • Sell a range of digital advertising, content, sponsorship and event opportunities.
  • Develop tailored proposals and presentations based on client objectives and budgets.
  • Meet and exceed agreed revenue and sales targets.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and accurately manage opportunities through the CRM.
  • Develop existing client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business and upselling.
  • Attend and support Retail Gazette events, industry networking opportunities and client meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across commercial, editorial, marketing and events.
  • Stay up to date with trends across retail, media, marketing and the wider B2B landscape.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is commercially driven, confident and enjoys the human side of sales.

You’ll need to be someone who doesn’t wait for opportunities to come to them. You’ll be proactive about picking up the phone, starting conversations, arranging meetings and getting in front of clients.

Essential

  • At least 5 year’s experience working in a B2B sales environment.
  • Experience working towards and achieving sales targets.
  • Experience selling across digital and/or event sponsorship solutions.
  • Confident and comfortable making sales calls and speaking to prospective clients on the phone.

Desirable

  • Experience within media, publishing, events, advertising or the retail sector.
  • Existing contacts within retail, consumer brands, agencies or related B2B markets.
  • Experience selling integrated media packages combining digital, content and events.
  • Experience attending networking events and developing business through face-to-face relationships.

The Person

This role is for someone who likes selling. We want a candidate who is comfortable with — and enjoys — the fundamentals of B2B sales: picking up the phone, starting conversations with new prospects, asking the right questions, following up, arranging meetings and ultimately getting in front of clients.

You should be someone who believes that strong commercial relationships are built through real conversations and face-to-face meetings, rather than relying solely on email and LinkedIn. You’ll be confident, personable and commercially curious, with the drive to create your own opportunities rather than waiting for leads to come to you.

You’ll also be motivated by targets and enjoy the satisfaction of turning a prospect into a client and developing that relationship over time.

The Working Environment

This is a London-based hybrid role. The successful candidate will be expected to work from our London office at least one day per week, increasing to two days per week from 2027. The role will also involve regular face-to-face client meetings, networking opportunities and attendance at Retail Gazette events, so a willingness to get out and meet people is essential.

Why Join Retail Gazette?

  • Join a growing and influential media brand within the UK retail sector.
  • Work with leading retailers, brands, agencies and technology businesses.
  • Develop your career across digital media, events and sponsorship sales.
  • Build relationships with senior decision-makers across the retail industry.
  • Gain valuable experience across both new business and account development.
  • Be part of a collaborative, entrepreneurial commercial team.
  • Have the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to the growth of the business.
