Senior Account Manager – Healthcare & Public Sector

Birmingham / West Midlands

Are you an experienced Account Manager who understands the NHS and has a track record of managing and growing contracted services within complex customer accounts?

We’re partnering with a growing organisation looking for a Senior Account Manager to develop an established portfolio of clients across healthcare and the wider public sector.

This role is all about what happens after a service contract is in place. You’ll build relationships across your accounts, protect existing business, manage renewals and identify opportunities to increase the value and scope of those relationships over time.

We’d particularly like to hear from people who have worked within the healthcare market and understand how to navigate the NHS landscape. You may have experience working across Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) and engaging with organisations such as ICBs, NHS Trusts and community healthcare providers.

Everything you need to know about the role

You’ll take ownership of an established portfolio of healthcare and public sector clients, with responsibility for both retention and commercial growth.

Your focus won’t be on one-off, transactional sales. Instead, you’ll develop long-term commercial relationships around an ongoing service – understanding how each contract is performing, where client needs are evolving and where there are opportunities to expand the relationship.

Your role will include:

  • Managing and developing an established portfolio of healthcare and wider public sector clients.
  • Building strong relationships across operational, commercial, procurement and senior stakeholder groups.
  • Taking ownership of service contract retention, renewals and account growth.
  • Understanding the structure, priorities and changing requirements of your clients.
  • Identifying opportunities to expand the scope or value of existing contracts.
  • Developing commercial opportunities within current accounts and taking them through to agreement.
  • Managing renewal cycles proactively and identifying potential risks well in advance.
  • Leading regular client reviews that look at both current service performance and future opportunities.
  • Developing strategic account plans for key customers and identifying where to focus activity.
  • Working closely with internal teams to ensure strong service delivery supports retention and future growth.
  • Maintaining a clear view of your commercial pipeline, upcoming renewals and account opportunities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
