We are seeking a Senior Account Manager, with proven experience in the Commercial Card arena for an exciting role in the firm’s offices in Canary Wharf. The role’s primary focus is generating and driving revenue through identifying, developing and optimising new and existing client opportunities. The Senior Account Manager will focus on the generation of new business opportunities. The successful Card Account Manager will have proven B2B sales / account management experience as well as a good understanding of the Global Commercial Cards industry.

Global Payments and Cash Management (GPS) is one of HSBC's global product lines generating over 10% of Group revenues. Supporting Corporate and Institutional Banking, our business is made up of almost 10,000 people in more than 60 countries and is uniquely positioned to help clients make and receive payments, across borders and regulations, in multiple currencies. In this role you’ll:

  • Manage a portfolio of 20-25 key card programmes
  • Proactively focus on the generation of new business opportunities to generate income for the scheme from instigation to implementation and deliver objective settings to drive programme optimisation and growth
  • Manage costs to ensure that the target cost to income ratio is met or reduced, negotiating the terms of each new commercial agreement, both internally and with clients, close sales and process contracts
  • Build relationships with new and existing clients to gain a clear understanding of their requirements, attending and supporting delivery of client meetings and client conferences
  • Develop and implement new ways of working with key clients for longer term partnerships, implementing best practice to support enhanced customer journey
  • Understand market trends and the likely impact on revenue streams, collect and share competitor and trend analysis
  • Communicate new income opportunities to internal stakeholders
  • Attend networking and local business groups to build network and keep up to date with industry developments

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Previous experience in developing commercial income in a similar environment is an advantage. Proven B2B sales experience – ideally as a Commercialisation, Sales or Account Manager
  • Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Cards, Commercial Cards, Global Payments Solutions (GPS) is desirable but not essential
  • Experience working in relevant environments, i.e. Commercial Banking is desirable but not essential
  • Experience working in relevant market, or context, i.e. European exposure is desirable but not essential
  • A track record of gaining an understanding of customers' needs and delivering excellent customer service
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to change and willing to support others to respond in a similar way
  • Both verbal and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered with fluency in either Spanish, French, German or Italian being an advantage but not essential

This is a hybrid position with the base location London. Clients are based nationally and within Europe, so it is important that you're based within an easy commutable distance of London and can travel as required.
