Rystad Energy is a leading energy research and advisory firm headquartered in Oslo, Norway with over 30 offices across the world. The company was founded in 2004 to provide strategic consulting services but has evolved into one of the world's leading energy research organizations providing market intelligence and forecasts through a myriad databases and reports covering the global energy sector, from Oil & Gas to Renewables & Energy Transition. Our clients include the largest energy, financial and service companies served by our growing team of over 950 industry experts.

The Role

Rystad Energy has developed a strong position as an insight provider within the global financial sector and we are looking to translate that reputation into growth of our market share in this space. The candidate will focus on expanding Rystad Energy's relationship with an assortment of existing clients and seek to expand the client base in Europe. The successful candidate must have exceptional account management capabilities, new business generation skills with experience in solution selling. As part of the sales team, the role holder can expect the support of our global client-facing research analysts and product specialists.

Investment banks, private equity, hedge funds, institutional investors, asset managers and equity research will be the primary segments with which the candidate can expect to work. Strong negotiation skills, knowledge of the global financial sector, experience in selling services, a consultative selling approach, product demonstrations and excellent networking skills are sought. Travel will be expected. Preferred location for this role is London.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of existing bank/FI accounts in the Oil & Gas, and wider New Energy Space, owning renewal and expansion targets
  • Present the company, our research and services in person and online at meetings industry events and social media
  • Achieve and surpass growth targets defined for the covered sector
  • Understand the core needs of each client type and build an effective value proposition
  • Communicate internally with research, sales colleagues and management on actives and results and provide feedback and suggestions on product enhancement and new product ideas - acting as the voice of client internally
  • Design and implement an outreach program in connection with our Marketing team
  • Coordinate with CSMs, product specialists, and research analysts to resolve client needs quickly
  • Manage interactions through the company's CRM system
  • Ensure new clients are on-boarded properly
  • Identify white-space expansion opportunities — new teams, new suites (Upstream, Supply Chain, Carbon Markets, Renewables & Power) within accounts already using Rystad

Skills & Experience

  • Selling research databases or consulting services is preferred
  • 3-7 years of account management/new client acquisition, preferably in the financial sector
  • Building value propositions for our databases based upon specific personas and company types
  • Goal oriented self-starter that can work independently, as part of a team and pull in resources as required
  • Account management best practices and new business generation/growth skills
  • Negotiating with procurement and/or senior management
  • The ability to quickly and effectively build new networks, strong existing network a plus
  • A Bachelor's degree, Masters desirable
  • Using standard Office tools and CRM systems
