Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in the financial operations of Sensata’s Swindon semiconductor business, with particular responsibility for manufacturing and high-value inventory accounting. The role combines core accounting ownership with hands-on involvement in Swindon’s specialist finance systems and processes, including system integrations, foreign currency complexities and future systems migration.

Working closely with the Swindon operation, the wider Finance organisation and the team in Sofia, this person will be the primary accounting contact for the site and will help shape how its finance processes and systems develop over time.

General Responsibilities

  • Prepare and enter journal entries
  • Responsible for performing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Follow the company’s chart of accounts
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Apply research and analytical skills to analyse current financial status, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
  • Recommend financial actions by analysing accounting options
  • Identify errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures, liaising with management and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Prepare financial statements and supplemental schedules
  • Develop and document business processes ensuring compliance with accounting policies and internal controls
  • Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions
  • Prepare special financial reports as needed by collecting, analysing, and summarizing account information and trends.

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
  • Strong organisation, planning and time management skills to achieve results
  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
  • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers.
  • Manufacturing accounting experience
  • Inventory accounting and reserves expertise
  • Strong finance systems and ERP proficiency
  • Experience with system upgrades, integrations or migrations
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Qualified accountant, ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent
