Role Description
This is a full-time Senior Accountant role based in Lancaster, offered on a hybrid working arrangement with some work from home flexibility.
The Senior Accountant will manage end-to-end accounting processes, including preparation of statutory accounts, management accounts, and financial reports for SMEs and limited companies. Core responsibilities include overseeing bookkeeping, VAT returns, payroll reconciliations, tax computations, and submissions, ensuring full compliance with relevant regulations. The role also involves managing team members, reviewing work produced by team members, providing guidance, and maintaining high-quality standards in client deliverables. The Senior Accountant will act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering proactive insights on cash flow, tax planning, and process improvements, while collaborating closely with internal team members to support efficient and transparent service delivery.

- Strong technical accounting skills, including preparation of statutory and management accounts, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in tax-related work such as corporate and personal tax computations, VAT returns, and compliance with UK accounting and tax regulations.
- Experience with accounting and payroll software (e.g., cloud-based platforms), and solid Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
- Client service and advisory skills, including the ability to explain complex financial information clearly and build long-term client relationships.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and capability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring or reviewing work of junior team members and contributing to process improvements.
- Recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent professional experience in a similar senior accounting role.
