Senior Accountant | £40,000 – £45,000 DOE | Blackburn | Permanent
ALF Recruit are working with an established accountancy practice in Blackburn to recruit a Senior Accountant to join their growing team. This is an opportunity for an experienced practice accountant who wants genuine ownership of their own client portfolio, plenty of autonomy and the opportunity to continue progressing within a firm that invests in its people.
You’ll manage a varied portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for everything from management accounts and VAT through to year-end accounts preparation. You’ll deal directly with your clients, build your own relationships and become a key point of contact within the practice.
What you’ll get

What you’ll be doing
- Managing your own portfolio of clients
- Preparing year-end accounts
- Producing monthly and quarterly management accounts
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
- Overseeing bookkeeping and ensuring client records are accurate and up to date
- Liaising directly with clients and becoming a trusted point of contact
- Working alongside senior members of the practice on more complex assignments
- Supporting and developing junior members of the team where required

What we’re looking for
- Strong experience within an accountancy practice
- Confident preparing accounts through to year end
- Experience across management accounts, VAT and bookkeeping
- Strong working knowledge of Xero
- ACCA/ACA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience
- Comfortable managing your own portfolio and dealing directly with clients
- Someone who wants autonomy but still values being part of a close-knit team
