Our client, a leading commodities firm, is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join their Finance team on a contract.
This is a hands-on role suited to a qualified accountant who is comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, regulated trading environment. You will support day-to-day finance activities, month-end reporting and financial controls across an international business.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Preparing monthly management accounts, reporting packs and variance analysis, while ensuring financial information is accurate and well supported.
- Reviewing daily reconciliations and supporting cash flow, liquidity, P&L and other key finance reporting requirements.
- Supporting statutory accounts, regulatory reporting and internal and external audits.
- Working closely with Finance and wider business teams to resolve queries, investigate discrepancies and maintain strong financial controls.

You will need the following experience:
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- At least 5 years' post-qualified experience within financial accounting, controllership or a senior reporting position.
- Strong end-to-end month-end close experience, including management accounts, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Experience with statutory accounts and external audit processes.
- Previous experience within financial services, commodities, trading or another regulated environment would be highly beneficial.
- Strong Excel skills, with experience using Power BI or similar reporting/analytical tools.
- The ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines and remain hands-on with detailed accounting work.
