Senior Accountant | Inspired Accounting, Leicester

Location: Leicester (office-based) — 250 Humberstone Road, Leicester, LE5 0EG

Salary: £38,000+ (DOE)

Type: Full-time, permanent (subject to a probationary period)

About us

We're Inspired Accounting (formerly Gower Accountancy), a Chartered Certified Accountancy practice based in Leicester, established in 2006. We're a quality firm of accountants: we take client relationships seriously, and we take the quality of the accounts we produce even more seriously. Everything is handled in-house by a small, experienced team — no jargon, no pressure, and no call centres.

We're looking for an ACCA-qualified Senior Accountant to work closely with the director and take real ownership of a client base of their own.

The role

This role has come about to cover an outgoing Senior Accountant who has built up strong experience within the firm. We're looking for someone who can step in and work competently and confidently from day one, while also offering the scope to grow into a broader role over time.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You'll be a key part of a small, close-knit practice, working alongside the director across the full range of client work. This is a genuine opportunity to grow with the firm: to build client relationships, take on responsibility, and shape your own career rather than sit in a narrow lane.

Your work will include:

  • Compiling accounts and statutory accounts to a high standard
  • Considering tax planning opportunities on behalf of clients, not just compliance
  • Taking the time to properly understand each client's business
  • Covering all areas of accounting — from bookkeeping through to payroll, management accounting, compliance, and business strategy

What we're looking for

  • ACCA qualified
  • Solid experience gained within an accountancy practice
  • Confident reviewing and preparing accounts and statutory accounts to a high standard
  • Comfortable across the full compliance cycle — from bookkeeping through to year-end
  • Looking for a role with genuine progression, where you can grow into managing your own clients
  • A team player who's happy working closely with the director in a small-practice environment
