Senior Accountant
Location: London – Hybrid (1 day working from home)
Salary: £60,000 – £70,000
Our client is a global shipping group seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Accountant to join its London-based finance function.
The role will take responsibility for financial reporting, management accounts, month-end processes and balance sheet reconciliations, working closely with senior finance leadership and international stakeholders across the group.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and supporting analysis.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, journals and accruals.
- Support the preparation of statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors.
- Manage intercompany accounting and reconciliations across multiple international entities.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital and financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal financial controls.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis alongside the wider finance team.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency and financial controls.
- Partner with internal stakeholders across finance and operations to resolve accounting queries.
- Support the Finance Director and wider leadership team with ad hoc financial analysis and projects.

Candidate Requirements

- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant – essential.
- Strong experience in financial accounting, management reporting and month-end processes.
- Previous experience in a Senior Accountant, Financial Accountant or similar role.
- Experience within shipping, maritime, logistics or a related sector would be highly desirable.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and financial reporting standards.
- Experience working within a multinational or multi-entity organisation would be advantageous.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using accounting or ERP systems.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills and organisational ability.
- Confident communicator, comfortable working with senior stakeholders across international operations.
- Proactive, commercially aware and comfortable working within a fast-paced global business.
