Hays are recruiting for a friendly and successful independent accountancy practice who are looking to appoint an Accounts Senior or Assistant Manager to join its close-knit team. You will work closely with experienced managers and partners, taking ownership of client assignments while playing an active role in mentoring junior team members and supporting the continued growth of the practice.
The Role
As an Accounts Senior / Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of clients, ensuring the timely delivery of accounts and compliance services whilst providing a high standard of client care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation and review of statutory accounts for a diverse client portfolio.
- Preparation of tax returns, payroll information and other compliance-related work.
- Supporting Managers and Partners with client management and advisory work.
- Analysing financial information and assisting clients with accounting queries.
- Ensuring assignments are completed accurately and in line with regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining high standards of file management, review and quality control.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships through regular communication.
- Attending client meetings and responding to client enquiries.
- Supporting and supervising trainees, helping to develop the next generation of professionals within the firm.
- Identifying opportunities to strengthen existing client relationships and contribute to business development activities.
- Keeping up to date with relevant accounting, tax and regulatory developments through ongoing professional development.

About You
You will ideally be:
- ACA or ACCA qualified, or qualified by experience.
- Experienced in preparing accounts within an accountancy practice environment.
- Knowledgeable across a broad range of accounting principles and tax compliance matters.
- Organised with strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
- Confident communicating with clients and colleagues at all levels.
- Proactive, resourceful and eager to deliver a first-class client service.
- Comfortable working independently whilst also enjoying being part of a collaborative team.
- Keen to develop junior staff and contribute positively to the firm's culture.
- Open to feedback and committed to continuous personal and professional development.
