Senior Accountant

The Ascott Limited UK Corporate Office is seeking a qualified, experienced and capable Senior Accountant to become part of our Finance team, supporting our Lodging business, covering a specific portfolio. Reporting to the Financial Controller, being responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyse financial information, prepare accurate financial reports and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures for your specific portfolio.

Requirements

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role within a medium/large corporate environment
  • Good general understanding of accounting theory and business taxation
  • Background in Hospitality or real estate (desirable)
  • Advanced MS Excel
  • Problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations
  • Attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Leading on the preparation and analysis of financial statements and supporting schedules for a variety of operating hotels/serviced apartments on a monthly basis
  • Facilitating and completing monthly and yearly closing procedures to the required standard
  • Analysing revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis
  • Drafting statutory financial statements and managing financial and tax audits
  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns and recording data to allow completion of annual P11D's and PSA settlements
  • Assisting in variance analysis of actual versus budget on a monthly basis and liaising with operational contacts to resolve queries
  • Ensuring best practice at all times and putting forward ideas to management as to how standards, processes and procedures can be improved
  • Preparing the monthly management report and monthly balance sheet reconciliation for all accounts
  • Supporting operations in preparation of annual budget and monthly forecast
  • Preparing monthly cashflow forecasts for entities under scope, identifying any funding requirements or surplus cash in good time to support treasury management on a group basis
  • Assisting in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.
