ACA/ACCA Practice Accountant
Circa £45k DOE | Permanent | Verwood, Dorset | Flexible hours | Ideally full-time
A great local opportunity for an accountant looking for a permanent role within practice.
Are you an ACA/ACCA part-qualified or qualified accountant with solid UK accountancy practice experience? Whether you have around 2–3 years' experience or are a more experienced practice accountant looking for a local opportunity, this could be a great fit.
We are working with an established chartered accountancy practice in Verwood looking for a hands-on accountant to join their team permanently.
About the role
You'll work with a portfolio of mainly owner-managed businesses and SME clients, preparing routine accounts and supporting with compliance work.
The role also involves direct client contact, so you'll need to be confident dealing with clients, answering queries and obtaining information.
Full-time is ideally preferred, but days and working hours can be flexible for the right person.

Key responsibilities
- Preparing routine year-end statutory accounts
- Working with owner-managed and SME clients
- Preparing accounts from client records and bookkeeping information
- Posting journals and making adjustments
- Working with Sage, Xero and QuickBooks
- Preparing electronic working papers
- Liaising directly with clients and resolving queries
- Assisting with corporation tax work and computations
- Managing your own workload and meeting client deadlines
About you
You will need previous UK accountancy practice experience – this role is not suitable for someone whose experience is solely within industry.
You could be:
- ACA/ACCA part-qualified with solid practice experience
- Recently ACA/ACCA qualified
- An experienced practice accountant looking for a more local role
You'll also have experience preparing routine accounts, working with SME/owner-managed clients and communicating directly with clients.

Some corporation tax experience would be a strong advantage, but isn't essential.
Digita experience isn't essential – experience with other accounts production systems is absolutely fine.
