Job Title: Senior Accountant
Location: Leeds
Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 per annum
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday
Are you an experienced accountant looking for a role where you can take ownership of your work, build strong client relationships and develop your career within an independent accountancy firm?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well established and independent accountancy practice as a Senior Accountant, working with a varied portfolio of predominantly owner managed and family businesses. You will be responsible for preparing statutory and management accounts, supporting tax compliance and advisory work and acting as a trusted point of contact for clients.
Working within a supportive and collaborative team, this role offers genuine autonomy and the opportunity to build and manage your own client base. You will work closely with Managers and Partners while also supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.
Key Responsibilities As Senior Accountant
- Prepare statutory accounts, management accounts and VAT returns for a varied portfolio of clients
- Manage and develop strong relationships with clients, acting as a key point of contact for accounting queries and support
- Visit client premises where required to provide accounting and commercial support
- Assist with tax compliance and advisory work, including reviewing corporation tax returns
- Work closely with Managers and Partners across a range of client assignments
- Take ownership of client work and ensure accounts and returns are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines
- Use a range of accounting and audit software including ProAudit, IRIS, Xero and SAGE

Experience Required As a Senior Accountant
- ACA or ACCA qualified, or an ACA/ACCA exam finalist
- Previous experience within an accountancy practice is highly desirable
- A full UK driving licence and access to a car is required for local client visits.
- Experience working with UK owner managed and family businesses
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience
- Good understanding of statutory and management accounts
- Strong Excel and general IT skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of your workload
