- Better exposure to senior people?
- Enough flexibility to still have a life outside work?
A successful independent firm is looking for a Senior Accountant - Accountancy Practice as part of a wider investment into its future leadership team.
This is an established, profitable business rather than a start-up dressed in expensive language about "growth". It already has strong clients, experienced people, and excellent staff retention. The investment now is about adding capacity and making sure there is a proper succession plan beneath the existing leadership team.
Based in Cardiff, you'll work with entrepreneurial businesses ranging from start-ups through to established owner-managed companies.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

More important is the ability to communicate properly with clients. The firm wants someone who can eventually sit opposite a business owner, understand the issue they are raising, and explain the answer without disappearing behind technical jargon.
