Senior Accountant

Full Time | Hybrid Working | York

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing and forward-thinking accountancy and business advisory firm. Working as part of a collaborative Accounts & Business Advisory team, the successful candidate will manage a varied portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality accounting, compliance, and advisory services while building strong, trusted client relationships.

This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious practice professional looking to take on greater responsibility in a supportive environment that encourages career development and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as a key point of contact throughout the year.
  • Prepare and review statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, and groups.
  • Prepare management accounts and VAT returns for a range of clients.
  • Support clients with accounting and tax compliance while ensuring work is delivered accurately and on time.
  • Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities to add value through additional services.
  • Promote cloud accounting solutions and support clients with digital accounting processes.
  • Work closely with managers on planning assignments, meeting deadlines, and delivering excellent client service.
  • Research and apply relevant accounting standards and legislation to provide practical solutions.

About the Candidate:

  • ACA, ACCA, or ICAS qualified.
  • At least three years' experience within an accountancy practice.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, Companies Act requirements, and FRS 102, FRS 102 1A, and FRS 105.
  • Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • A proactive, client-focused approach and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
