Senior Accountant
Location: Harpenden
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 depending on experience

Are you an experienced accountant looking for a role where you can take real ownership of client relationships, accounts and advisory work rather than being focused purely on compliance?
We're working with an established and growing Accountancy practice that is looking to appoint a Senior Accountant to join its team in Harpenden. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with business owners and wants to develop beyond traditional accounts preparation.
The Role
As a Senior Accountant, you'll manage a varied portfolio of clients, overseeing their accounts and tax requirements while becoming a trusted point of contact for day-to-day financial and commercial advice.
You'll have the opportunity to build strong client relationships, take responsibility for your own workload and play an active role in supporting the continued growth of the practice.

What you'll be doing
- Preparing year-end statutory accounts for a range of businesses
- Managing personal and corporation tax requirements
- Reviewing accounts prepared by junior members of the team
- Acting as a key contact for a portfolio of clients
- Supporting clients with management accounts and financial reporting
- Providing practical advice to business owners beyond routine compliance
- Managing deadlines and ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently
- Supporting and mentoring more junior colleagues
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and enhance the client experience
What we're looking for
You'll ideally be ACA or ACCA qualified, although strong QBE candidates with relevant practice experience will also be considered.
You should have solid experience within an Accountancy practice and be comfortable managing a portfolio of clients with limited supervision. Strong communication skills are important, as you'll be expected to build relationships with clients and explain financial information clearly.

Experience with cloud accounting software and a genuine interest in the commercial side of your clients' businesses would be advantageous.
