Digit Accountants Limited is a London-based firm providing accounting and advisory services to aspiring SMEs and individuals across London and the wider UK. The team supports clients with bookkeeping that enables them to focus on business growth and core operations. Digit Accountants also advises on suitable accounting software based on each client’s specific requirements and business profile. The firm offers training to clients and their staff to help maintain accurate records and accounting systems. Services include accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, taxation, statutory services, contractor accountancy, outsourcing, and other assurance services.
Role Description
The Senior Accountant will work full time on-site in the London Area, United Kingdom, supporting a diverse portfolio of SME and individual clients. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Preparing financial statements and management accounts
- Overseeing bookkeeping and reconciliations
- Managing VAT, payroll, and taxation filings in line with current regulations
- Reviewing statutory accounts
- Supporting outsourced finance functions
- Providing assurance services where required

The role involves advising clients on appropriate accounting systems, helping implement and improve processes, and assisting in training client teams to maintain accurate and timely financial records. Collaboration with internal colleagues and direct communication with clients will be central to delivering high-quality, reliable accounting services.
Qualifications
- Strong technical accounting skills, including accounts preparation, financial reporting, and understanding of statutory requirements
- Practical experience in bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and maintaining accurate ledgers for SMEs and individual clients
- Expertise in VAT, payroll processing, and taxation compliance, including preparation and submission of required returns
- Proficiency with accounting software and systems, and the ability to evaluate, implement, and optimize tools suited to different business needs
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and advisory skills to support client decision-making and business growth
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-specialists
- Proven client service skills, including professionalism, responsiveness, and the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) and relevant post-qualification experience in practice or industry would be highly beneficial
- Experience working with UK SMEs and contractors, and familiarity with UK accounting standards and HMRC requirements, would be advantageous
