We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our dynamic European accounting centre.
Viasat’s European accounting centre is the central accounting hub for of Viasat’s legal entities and business operations within Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific (the Group). This accounting centre works with and is accountable for transactional accounting and both internal and external reporting requirements of the Group’s business operations. Viasat’s European accounting centre works in collaboration with other of Viasat’s accounting centres to generate and lead the accuracy and integrity of the Group’s financial results. These results are evaluated and analysed to ensure their accuracy and relevance for the Group’s business decision making and for reporting to the corporate accounting central office in San Diego, California, United States.
What you’ll do -
- Accountability for the execution and oversight of certain general ledger accounting areas within Viasat’s European accounting centre, focusing on accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of financial information.
- Ownership of certain general ledger process and systems which support transactional accounting and period-end financial statement reporting for the Group.
- Design and maintenance of quality processes and financial statement controls which ensure the accuracy and relevance of accounting results.

The day-to-day
Oversight and control over various general ledger accounting areas, including:
- Assist with the management of cash operations:
- Reconciliation of In-house cash and cash Concentration process
- Reviewing automated cash clearing accounts
- Posting of manual cash clearing accounts
- Reviewing and uploading cash books from local accountants
- Preparation of monthly reconciliations including:
- Bank accounts
- Debtors / Creditors control accounts
- Other Balance Sheet accounts
- Ownership, understanding and analysis of foreign currency revaluations for the whole group (c.70 entities)
- Preparation of quarterly fluctuation commentary for certain GL accounts (Bank accounts, AR and AP control accounts, payroll and other accounts)
- Ownership of certain payroll accruals (Holiday, Bonus, Sales Incentive Plan, Stock based compensation, Severance)
- Ownership of certain head office allocations
Entity Management - oversight and control over various legal entities around the world:
- Reconcile and review local entity trial balance before uploading into SAP ECC for certain entities
- Ownership of the parallel bookkeeping process across various entities, including:
- Working closely with local accountants in country
- Reconciling SAP ECC with local ERP systems / bookkeeping
- Providing local accountants with monthly information to prepare local accounts
Support:
- Supporting Cash Operation, Global Credit Management and Tax Teams
- Supporting all group and statutory audits
- Maintain and carry out a high-quality internal control environment over applicable accounting processes and the general ledger close
- Supporting Viasat Inc. in their quarterly SEC filing for certain disclosures
- Collaborate with members of the European business to understand, advise on, and accurately transact business operations within the Group’s results

What You'll Need
- Accounting qualification (CPA, ACA, CIMA or ACCA or equivalent)
- Experience with SAP ECC / S4 Hana
- Experience in a central finance accounting role
- Proactive individual with the ability and shown experience of optimally running various accounting and shared services projects to a high-quality solution simultaneously whilst adhering to deadlines, utilising best practise tools and techniques
- Strong people skills; impactful, confident, credible and comfortable at engaging collaboratively in an intellectual and multinational environment at all levels. Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Strong results orientated work ethic and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with passion for excellence and innovation
- Ambassador both within and outside Finance
- Ability to travel and work across cultures and time zones
What Will Help You On The Job
- Previous experience using Blackline Reconciliations, GL Wand, and delivering major SAP IT & process changes
- In depth knowledge of relevant accounting standards: US GAAP and IFRS
- Familiarity with AI tools or prompt engineering to enhance routine spreadsheet
