An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join a public sector organisation as Senior Accountant during a period of transformation and investment. Your new role

This is far more than a traditional finance position. As a senior member of the finance team, you'll act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders, helping drive commercial thinking, financial performance and strategic decision-making across a wide-ranging portfolio. You'll lead on financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting whilst managing a team of finance professionals and developing strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation. You'll have the opportunity to challenge, influence and support key initiatives to deliver long-term objectives and sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities
  • Providing insight and financial analysis to support strategic decisions
  • Managing and developing a team of finance professionals
  • Delivering high-quality management and statutory financial reporting
  • Supporting large-scale projects, transformation initiatives and service improvements
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders to drive financial performance
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and efficiency

What you'll need to succeed

You'll be a qualified accountant or an experienced finance professional with a strong track record in financial management ideally within a public services/not for profit environment:

  • Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting expertise
  • Excellent stakeholder management and business partnering skills
  • Experience leading, mentoring or developing teams
  • The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance audiences
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach
