We’re looking to appoint a qualified accountant, preferably with experience of treasury management and/or pension fund accounting, to support and act as the deputy to the Service Manager Treasury and Investments on a one-year fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Overseeing daily cash management, and the implementation of borrowing and investment decisions.
  • Overseeing banking arrangements, including query resolution.
  • Helping with the management and administration of the investments of the Pension Fund.
  • Monitoring of contributions payable to the Pension Fund.
  • Production of the annual financial statements and annual report for the Pension Fund in line with the CIPFA code of practice, and within statutory deadlines.
  • Completing performance indicators, statistical returns and working papers.
  • Deputising for the Service Manager Treasury and Investments as required.

About You

You’ll be a CCAB qualified accountant and effective team leader with solid experience in financial reporting and working with a wide range of stakeholders. You’ll know your way around financial systems and spreadsheets, and you’ll have a good working knowledge of local government accounting.

Conflicting deadlines are a regular feature of the role, and you’ll need to be well-organised, adaptable, and able to hold your own in a robust conversation when the situation calls for it.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
