Role Description
The Senior Accountant is a full-time, mainly office-based role in Malton, with flexibility for some work from home. The individual will manage end-to-end accounting activities for a portfolio of small and medium-sized business clients, including preparation of management accounts, financial statements, forecasts, and cash flow reports. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing financial data, preparing insightful management information, supporting business planning, and advising clients on improvements to financial processes and controls. The Senior Accountant will also review work prepared by junior team members, ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations, and contribute to the continuous improvement of internal practices. Regular client meetings, both in-person and virtual, will be a key part of the role, requiring clear communication of financial insights and recommendations.

Qualifications

- Strong management accounting skills, including preparation of management accounts, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Experience producing clear, accurate management information and reports for decision-makers.
- Proficiency in business analysis and planning, including financial forecasting and cash flow management.
- Advanced skills with accounting software and spreadsheets (e.g., cloud-based accounting platforms, Excel).
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or equivalent experience in a senior accounting role.
- Ability to review and improve financial processes, controls, and reporting frameworks.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills for explaining financial information to non-specialist clients and building long-term relationships.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment, managing multiple client deadlines.
- Experience working with small to medium-sized businesses is highly beneficial.
