I am currently working with a well-established organisation in Cambourne who are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to take responsibility for the day-to-day finance function.
This is a varied, hands-on role that would suit someone who enjoys having ownership of a broad range of finance duties rather than being one small part of a larger finance team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and transactional finance activities, working across both accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Key responsibilities:
- Processing supplier invoices and maintaining accurate purchase ledger records
- Raising and processing customer invoices and maintaining the sales ledger
- Allocating receipts and monitoring outstanding customer balances
- Processing supplier payments and assisting with payment runs
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving any discrepancies
- Processing employee expenses and maintaining supporting documentation
- Completing regular bank reconciliations
- Maintaining accurate bookkeeping and financial records
- Responding to supplier and customer queries
- Assisting with routine month-end activities and reconciliations
- Dealing with general finance administration as required
- Taking ownership of the day-to-day transactional finance function

The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in an accounts or finance role, ideally with exposure to both AP and AR
- Good practical bookkeeping and transactional finance experience
- Experience of working independently or in a standalone/small finance environment
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
- Good Excel skills and confidence using financial systems
- Good communication skills and the ability to deal confidently with routine finance queries
- A hands-on approach and willingness to get involved across all areas of the day-to-day finance function

This is a good opportunity for an Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeper who enjoys a varied role and would welcome the opportunity to take ownership of a broad range of day-to-day finance responsibilities.
