About The Role
Due to continued business growth, we are looking to recruit a Senior Accounts Assistant to join our growing Accounts team in Newcastle.
This is a varied and rewarding role that will play a key part in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. Working alongside the wider Accounts team, you will be responsible for the accurate processing and control of financial transactions, maintaining accounting records, and ensuring all accounting processes are completed efficiently and in line with company procedures.

The role provides vital support across the Accounts function, ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner while maintaining high standards of financial control and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce client income statements and financial reports.
- Produce VAT return reports where required.
- Set up new client accounts, including entering opening balances.
- Manage client funds in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Administer client deposits, refunds and reconciliations where applicable.
- Issue VAT receipts.
- Prepare recharge invoices for applicable costs.
- Prepare and issue invoices.
- Assist with budgeting, reconciliations and financial control activities.
- Deal with client, supplier and internal account queries.
- Process purchase ledger invoices.
- Carry out supplier reconciliations and prepare payment runs.
- Support the preparation of management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and VAT returns where required.
- Ensure all financial records are maintained accurately and in line with company procedures and internal controls.
- Provide holiday cover for other Accounts team members where required.

About You
We are looking for someone with strong accounts experience who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team and takes pride in delivering accurate financial information.
Essential
- Previous experience working within an accounts or finance department.
- Strong understanding of accounting processes and financial controls.
- Experience with bank reconciliations, purchase ledger and client accounts.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients, suppliers and colleagues.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
