Role Description

The Senior Accounts Payable Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Leicester, responsible for overseeing and maintaining accurate supplier accounts and payments. Day-to-day duties include processing high volumes of invoices, matching purchase orders and delivery notes, reconciling supplier statements, and resolving invoice and payment queries promptly. The role involves preparing payment runs, monitoring aged creditors, and ensuring that all transactions comply with internal controls and company policies. The Senior Accounts Payable Assistant will work closely with finance colleagues, store and head office teams, and external suppliers to ensure timely, accurate information flow. This position also supports process improvements within the accounts payable function and assists with month-end reporting as required.

  • Candidates should possess strong Finance and Accounting skills, with experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role.
  • Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to interpret data, reconcile accounts, and identify discrepancies in invoices and payments.
  • Candidates should possess Invoicing expertise, including high-volume invoice processing, purchase ledger management, and supplier statement reconciliation.
  • Candidates should possess clear and professional Communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers and to resolve queries effectively.
  • Relevant experience with accounting software and ERP systems, along with strong Excel and general IT skills, is beneficial.
  • A finance-related qualification (such as AAT or equivalent) and previous experience in retail or a multi-site environment would be advantageous.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced setting are important for success in this role.
