Senior Accounts Payable Specialist
Location: Heywood, Greater Manchester
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum
Contract: Minimum 6-Month Contract with Opportunity to Become Permanent
Working Pattern: Full-Time, 5 Days On-site
The Opportunity
Our client, a leading global logistics organisation, is seeking an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join their finance team based in Heywood. This is an excellent opportunity for a high-calibre AP professional to join a fast-paced, corporate environment where process improvement, automation and operational excellence are key priorities. This role will initially be offered on a minimum 6-month contract basis, with a strong possibility of becoming permanent for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full end-to-end Accounts Payable process across a high-volume, multi-entity environment.
- Oversee supplier invoice processing, coding, matching and payment runs.
- Act as the primary point of contact for complex supplier queries and escalations, ensuring timely resolution.
- Reconcile supplier statements and investigate outstanding items.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers globally.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities relating to Accounts Payable.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, financial controls and audit requirements.
- Identify process improvements and support finance transformation initiatives.
- Assist in the implementation and optimisation of AP automation tools and system enhancements.
- Produce reporting and analysis relating to AP performance, aged creditors and payment cycles.
- Support and mentor junior members of the AP function where required.

About You
We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable professional who has operated within large, corporate environments and can confidently manage a complex AP function.
Essential Requirements
- Significant experience within a Senior Accounts Payable position.
- Expert knowledge of end-to-end Accounts Payable processes.
- Experience handling high volumes of supplier accounts and complex supplier queries.
- Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience working within large corporate or multinational organisations.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
Systems & Technology
- Experience working with multiple finance systems and ERP platforms.
- Strong understanding of AP automation processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to quickly adapt to new systems and technologies.
