Senior Actuarial Analyst
Location: London - hybrid 50%
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time 35 hours
Purpose of the role
Support the Head of Investment Valuations in maintaining the independent valuation oversight framework across the investment portfolio, ensuring valuations are robust, well-governed and appropriate for financial reporting, risk management and regulatory purposes. Provide expertise on complex valuation matters, drive continuous improvement of valuation processes and controls, and take ownership of liquidity stress testing within the Company's liquidity risk framework.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the independent valuation and price verification of assets across the investment portfolio.
- Oversee valuations across a range of asset classes, including fixed income, derivatives, private credit, structured products, real estate and other Level 3 investments.
- Review and challenge valuation methodologies, assumptions, models and market inputs to ensure fair value outcomes.
- Maintain and enhance the Investment Valuation Framework in line with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Monitor valuation controls, governance arrangements and escalation processes, addressing issues and implementing improvements where required.
- Contribute to the development and review of valuation methodologies for new, complex and illiquid asset classes.
- Drive enhancements to valuation models, processes, data quality and analytical capabilities.
- Provide valuation expertise and guidance to stakeholders across Investment, Finance, Risk, Actuarial and Operations.
- Produce management information, valuation reports and committee papers for senior stakeholders.
- Own liquidity stress testing and scenario analysis, while supporting the ongoing development of liquidity models and the Company's liquidity risk framework.

What We're Looking For
- Experience in investment valuation, investment risk, actuarial, investment finance or asset management, gained within insurance, pensions, asset management, banking or consultancy environments.
- Strong understanding of a range of asset classes, including fixed income, private credit, derivatives, structured finance and other illiquid investments.
- Good knowledge of valuation principles and relevant regulatory frameworks, such as IFRS and Solvency II.
- Understanding of derivative products and their valuation drivers, including interest rate swaps, cross-currency swaps, repos, TRS and FX forwards.
- Experience reviewing and challenging valuation models, assumptions and data to support robust decision-making.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify key insights.
- Open to candidates from actuarial and non-actuarial backgrounds. Actuarial qualifications are not essential; candidates with exceptional quantitative skills and relevant experience in investment, finance, risk or related disciplines will be equally considered.
- Knowledge of liquidity risk and stress testing, with an understanding of asset-liability management principles.
- Confident communicator who can explain technical concepts clearly and build effective relationships across a range of stakeholders.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with a track record of improving processes, controls, reporting or automation. Advanced Excel skills are essential; experience with Python or VBA would be an advantage.
