The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Senior Addiction Nurse (part-time) to join the East Dunbartonshire Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service (ADRS). The service supports individuals experiencing alcohol and drug-related harms across East Dunbartonshire. The successful candidate will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team, delivering compassionate, person-centred care to a vulnerable population using a strengths-based and recovery-focused approach.
All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Permanent, Part-time, 29.5 hours per week
- Base location - Kirkintilloch Health and Care Centre
- Shift pattern - Thursday, Friday and alternate Wednesday, 9 am - 5 pm
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist nursing care and support to individuals with complex alcohol and drug-related needs, including associated physical and mental health issues.
- Work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team alongside medical, social work and social care colleagues.
- Complete Family Impact Assessments for service users with children.
- Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings.
- Provide clinical leadership, support and supervision to staff nurses and healthcare support workers.
- Deliver person-centred care planning, actively involving patients, carers and families and promoting self-management where appropriate.
- Undertake duties delegated by the Nurse Team Leader in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards and clinical policies.
- Collaborate with patients, carers and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
- Contribute to service development, transformation work, board-wide audits and learning from reviews.
- Lead specific projects or workstreams as required.
- Maintain effective communication, time management and diary management skills.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications, and/or Experience Required to Do the Job:
- Registered nurse with experience working within Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services (ADRS) at Band 5 level.
- Knowledge and understanding of supporting individuals with substance use issues and associated physical and mental health conditions.
- Ability to work within a recovery-focused, trauma-informed and person-centred framework.
- Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies.
- Strong leadership, supervisory and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational, time management and diary management abilities.
- A driving licence is desirable due to the community-based nature of the role and the requirement to cover a wide geographical area.
- Compassionate, motivated and trauma-informed approach to care delivery.
