SENIOR ADMINISTRATOR – SEND ASSISTANT MANAGER

Salary: NJC scale 23-25 + benefits

Contract Type: Term Time. FTE £35,570 - £37,563. Actual pay £30,827 - £32,554 pa

We are seeking an exceptional Administrator to join our established SEND Department. This is a key operational role, working closely with the SENDCo and Assistant SENDCo to ensure that SEND systems, processes, funding and statutory administration are managed accurately and efficiently.

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, confident with financial information and able to manage a varied and demanding workload. The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise professionally with parents, staff, external professionals and Local Authorities.

Under the direction of the SENDCo, the successful candidate will:

  • Coordinate the administration of EHCP Annual Reviews and ensure documentation is completed within required timescales;
  • Maintain accurate SEND records, systems and student information;
  • Support the coordination of EHCP consultations, transitions and communication with Local Authorities;
  • Oversee SEND funding records and work closely with the SENDCo and Finance Manager to monitor income, expenditure and financial commitments;
  • Support the preparation and updating of SEND budget and funding forecasts;
  • Identify and follow up funding discrepancies, missing payments and outstanding information;
  • Coordinate key departmental processes, including Student Support Plans and provision records;
  • Support the quality assurance of SEND documentation;
  • Communicate sensitively and professionally with students, parents, staff and external agencies;
  • Provide high quality operational and administrative support to the SENDCo and wider SEND team.

The role would suit an experienced administrator, finance officer, school business support professional or someone with experience of managing complex systems and statutory processes.

Previous experience of working within SEND, education, Local Authority services or another regulated environment would be an advantage. Knowledge of EHCP processes, SEND funding and relevant legislation is desirable but not essential, as training and support can be provided. However, the successful candidate must be willing and able to develop this specialist knowledge quickly.

  • Significant administrative experience;
  • Experience of financial administration, budget monitoring or forecasting;
  • Excellent ICT skills and confidence in managing detailed records and data;
  • The ability to prioritise competing deadlines and maintain accuracy under pressure;
  • Sound judgement and the ability to recognise when matters need to be escalated;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • The ability to build positive professional relationships;
  • Discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information;
  • A commitment to inclusive education and improving outcomes for students with SEND.
