The opportunity
The international tax landscape is undergoing significant change, creating strong demand for specialist tax advisory expertise.
Our Financial Services International Tax and Transaction Services (FS ITTS) team has ambitious growth plans, making this an exciting time to join us. As a Tax Senior, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your expertise across Banking, Insurance and Wealth & Asset Management, working with a diverse client base ranging from growing inbound businesses to some of the world’s largest multinational organisations.
The combination of EY’s International Tax and Transaction Tax capabilities also means you can gain exposure to the tax structuring aspects of major corporate M&A transactions. Our breadth of work gives you the flexibility to build experience across financial services or develop deeper expertise within a particular sector.
Your key responsibilities
As a Tax Senior, you’ll play an important role in delivering high-quality advice to our clients while developing your own technical, commercial and leadership capabilities.
You will:
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by delivering exceptional client service
- Support the successful delivery of tax advisory projects, combining technical excellence with a practical, commercially focused approach
- Identify opportunities to add value to clients, drawing on experience from other engagements, technical training and knowledge-sharing across the team
- Develop strong internal and external networks and build relationships across the wider business
- Support, coach and develop junior colleagues
- Contribute to the continued growth and development of the FS ITTS team

To qualify for the role, you should have:
- Experience working as a tax practitioner, including experience reviewing the work of others
- A relevant professional qualification such as ATT, ACA, CA or CTA, or equivalent breadth of knowledge, for example through a legal qualification
- An undergraduate or postgraduate degree, or equivalent professional experience
Experience working with financial services clients would be advantageous.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Previous experience of managing or developing people
What we look for
You’ll take a proactive approach to maintaining and developing your technical knowledge, keeping up to date with developments in UK and international taxation and considering what those changes mean for our clients.
The projects you contribute to could include:
- Expansion into new markets
- Pre-merger reorganisations and post-merger integration
- Organisational structure rationalisation
- Business model redesign
- Capital structure and financing optimisation
- Managing risks arising from changes in global tax legislation, including BEPS
- Supporting lobbying and negotiations with tax authorities in the UK and internationally
Whatever the engagement, you’ll help clients develop and execute their international tax strategies while maintaining high standards of technical quality and client service.
