At McLaren Racing, we’re not just here to take the chequered flag. We’re here to excite our fans, inspire our people, and deliver for our partners. We’re also committed to evolving our sport, our industry, and our technology. We have exciting opportunities for intelligent, highly motivated and proactive individuals to join our Indirect Procurement team.

Our team is full of incredible people, and we know we can learn as much from you as you can from us. Likewise, you want to learn and grow, and you want to share your knowledge with others. After all, that’s what a high performing team is built upon.

Job Description

As a Senior Specialist, Aerodynamics Design Engineer, you will play a leading technical role in the Aero Design team, developing aerodynamic surfaces, wind tunnel model components and assemblies that contribute directly to race car performance.

You will combine advanced surfacing and mechanical engineering expertise with technical leadership, supporting development projects, improving CAD methods and mentoring colleagues. Working closely with aerodynamicists and teams across engineering and production, you will help turn aerodynamic concepts into high-quality, manufacturable solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Create robust, high-quality parametric CAD models that meet aerodynamic specifications, Formula 1 regulations and departmental engineering standards.
  • Design race car aerodynamic surfaces, wind tunnel model parts and assemblies, providing the information required for manufacture, preparation, pre-fit and setup.
  • Apply expert knowledge of component packaging and wind tunnel model systems to plan work, forecast lead times and deliver projects to agreed deadlines.
  • Lead technical problem-solving, influence engineering initiatives and improve the team’s CAD methodologies and best practices.
  • Mentor junior colleagues and collaborate with aerodynamicists, CFD, model making, production, wind tunnel, R&D and vehicle engineering teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
