Role Summary
Aubay UK is seeking an experienced Senior AI Business Analyst – Commodities Trading & Digital Transformation to support the expansion of AI-enabled products across a leading Trading & Supply organisation.
This role will act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, translating complex trading, logistics, supply, risk, and commercial challenges into scalable digital and AI-driven solutions. The successful candidate will combine deep Business Analysis expertise with strong Commodities Trading knowledge and a solid understanding of AI, Machine Learning, and Generative AI technologies.
Working across multiple strategic initiatives, the Senior AI Business Analyst will partner with traders, schedulers, operators, commercial teams, Product Owners, Data Scientists, AI Engineers, and Developers to identify opportunities for AI adoption, define business requirements, and support the delivery of innovative digital products that create measurable business value.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Extensive IT Business Analysis experience within Commodities Trading or Energy Trading
- Strong understanding of Products Trading processes, trading operations, and commercial value chains
- Hands-on experience implementing, supporting, and scaling AI solutions within trading environments
- Experience working directly with traders, schedulers, operators, planners, and commercial stakeholders
- Experience supporting digital transformation, analytics, data, or AI initiatives
- Strong workshop facilitation, requirements gathering, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working within Agile product delivery environments
- Experience with trading platforms (such as; Endur, Allegro, Openlink, RightAngle, SAP, Veson, or similar)
- Familiarity with trading data platforms and commodity risk management systems
- Experience translating business requirements into technology and data-driven solutions
- Understanding of AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities
- Experience converting business problems into AI use cases and product opportunities
- Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills

Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience within Refined Products Trading or Crude Trading businesses
- Experience with Risk Management, Exposure Management, Margin Analysis, and Trading Analytics
- Experience developing business cases and evaluating AI-enabled product opportunities
- Experience supporting product discovery, MVP definition, and product scaling activities
- Experience mentoring Business Analysts and contributing to capability development
- Knowledge of Front, Middle, and Back Office trading operations
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead business analysis activities across multiple AI, analytics, and digital transformation initiatives
- Gather, analyse, and document business requirements, user stories, business processes, and acceptance criteria
- Facilitate workshops with traders, operators, schedulers, planners, commercial teams, Product Owners, and technology stakeholders
- Analyse business challenges and identify opportunities to improve processes through AI and digital technologies
- Translate business needs into functional, technical, and AI solution requirements
- Support product discovery, business case development, MVP definition, and solution prioritisation
- Partner with AI Engineers, Data Scientists, and Developers to define and deliver AI-enabled products
- Evaluate the business value, feasibility, and adoption potential of AI and Generative AI solutions
- Create process maps, capability models, customer journeys, and business architecture artefacts
- Drive alignment between business, product, engineering, and data teams
- Support solution design, testing, validation, and business adoption activities
- Present recommendations, insights, and investment options to senior stakeholders
- Influence decision-making and help shape strategic technology roadmaps
- Lead analysis workstreams across multiple concurrent initiatives
- Mentor junior Business Analysts and promote best practices in business analysis and requirements management
