Senior AI Developer

Location: Reading
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Salary: £85k

We're seeking an experienced software engineer to design and deliver AI-powered applications using modern development frameworks, cloud technologies, and large language models. You'll work on customer-facing projects, developing scalable, production-ready solutions while helping establish best practices for AI engineering across the wider development team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy AI-enabled software solutions.
  • Develop applications using technologies such as.NET, Python, React, or Node.js.
  • Integrate cloud-based AI services and large language models into production systems.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical technical solutions.
  • Define technical standards, reusable components, and development best practices.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend improvements to engineering processes.
  • Mentor developers and contribute to the growth of AI capability within the team.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Strong commercial experience in full stack software development.
  • Proficiency in one or more of .NET/C#, Python, React, or Node.js.
  • Experience delivering production software in customer or enterprise environments.
  • Practical knowledge of LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, or AI application development.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and CI/CD practices.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.
  • Strong software engineering, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with AI agents, vector databases, or AI evaluation techniques.
  • Azure certification or equivalent experience.
  • Previous technical leadership or mentoring experience.
  • Experience working in consulting or professional services.
