Job Title: Senior AI Engineer
Location: London
About the Job
Join the AI Engineering Team within the Digital Delivery pillar of EMEA Corporate Technology at AMD, responsible for delivering innovative AI-powered solutions across the organization. The team designs, develops, and supports enterprise-grade AI applications, including Generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Agentic AI solutions.
Hybrid Working
The places you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Key Responsibilities and Experiences
- Collaborate with Digital Transformation (DXT) teams and business stakeholders to understand business requirements, contribute to opportunity assessment and prioritization, and define measurable success criteria for AI initiatives.
- Design, develop, and deliver scalable AI solutions, including Generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Agentic AI, and intelligent automation capabilities aligned to business objectives.
- Evaluate technology, model, and platform options, providing recommendations based on business value, cost, risk, strategic alignment, scalability, and long-term supportability.
- Follow Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and governance processes, ensuring appropriate planning, documentation, testing, release management, risk mitigation, and stakeholder reporting.
- Drive adoption of engineering best practices, architectural standards, reusable frameworks, and quality controls to ensure secure, reliable, and maintainable AI solutions.
- Partner with architecture, engineering, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure AI solutions meet enterprise standards for performance, resilience, compliance, and operational excellence.
Required Skills
- 10+ years of experience in technology delivery, software engineering, platform engineering, data science, machine learning, or AI solution development.
- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience designing and delivering custom Generative AI solutions on Microsoft Azure (preferred) or AWS.
- Strong experience building and operating production-grade Generative AI applications, including:
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- AI Agents and Agentic Workflows
- Prompt Engineering and Prompt Optimization
- Model Evaluation and Observability Frameworks
- LLM Fine-tuning and Adaptation Techniques
- Hands-on experience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI Service, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and modern AI orchestration frameworks.
- Strong programming skills in Python, with experience developing scalable APIs, AI services, and automation solutions.
- Experience implementing vector search solutions using Vector Databases such as Azure AI Search, Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma, Milvus, or similar technologies.
- Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT, Llama, Claude, Mistral, or equivalent foundation models.
- Strong understanding of AI architecture patterns, including grounding, retrieval pipelines, context management, agent orchestration, guardrails, and responsible AI practices.
- Experience integrating AI solutions with enterprise systems, data platforms, APIs, and cloud-native services.
- Knowledge of MLOps, CI/CD, monitoring, model lifecycle management, and production support processes.
- Familiarity with cloud security, governance, risk management, and compliance requirements for enterprise AI solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
