We're working with a global technology leader providing specialist software, services, and support to companies in the distributive trade, enabling fully integrated trading and business management solutions worldwide. With unique expertise in ERP/SaaS, they serve a diverse client base from small traders to multinational enterprises across the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, South Africa, Kenya, and North America.
The Role
- Design, build, and refine prompts, context strategies, and agentic workflows for AI features in products.
- Implement robust evaluation methodologies to test prompts against real business cases and measure quality.
- Pragmatically choose and work across various large language models and providers based on quality, cost, and latency.
- Collaborate closely with product teams and subject matter experts to ensure a deep understanding of business problems.
- Develop and maintain shared prompt patterns, reusable templates, evaluation harnesses, and internal guides to foster best practices.
- Coach and mentor engineers to elevate the organization's collective AI capabilities.

What You'll Need
- Strong software engineering background with significant experience building and shipping production software.
- Substantial hands-on experience with large language models, including prompt design and context engineering.
- Proven experience building evaluations or test harnesses for LLM outputs and improving quality measurably.
- Clear evidence of growing other engineers through mentoring, training, or community involvement.
- Daily working fluency with AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor.
- Familiarity with LLM APIs (GPT, Claude, Llama), prompt engineering frameworks, and evaluation datasets.
