Senior AI Engineer - Generative AI | Global Banking Organisation
London | 4 days in the office
6 month contract | £800 - £875 per day inside IR35
We are looking for an experienced Senior AI Engineer to join a leading global financial services organisation, helping to design and deliver Generative AI applications across the EMEA region.
This is a hands-on engineering role working across GenAI, LLMs, cloud and enterprise technology. You will build production-grade AI solutions, including RAG and agentic AI applications, while working closely with architecture, cloud, engineering and business teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop production-ready Generative AI and LLM applications
- Build RAG pipelines and agentic AI solutions
- Develop, fine-tune and optimise LLM-based applications
- Develop solutions using Python and modern GenAI frameworks
- Develop and implement prompt engineering strategies
- Integrate LLMs with enterprise applications, APIs and data sources
- Build and deploy AI solutions within Azure and/or AWS
- Implement CI/CD and MLOps practices for AI applications
- Develop and deploy APIs and integration services
- Monitor and optimise AI application and model performance
- Work with cloud and architecture teams to ensure solutions are secure, scalable and maintainable
- Guide development teams through implementation, testing and deployment
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers

- Experience providing architectural solutions in a multi-entity, multi-regional financial services organisation.
- Experience of working with senior stakeholders across business and technology functions.
- Experience of architecting Gen AI solutions using infrastructure in Microsoft Azure or AWS.
- Strong expertise in developing Gen AI solutions in Python using frameworks such as Langchain, Langgraph, Microsoft Agents SDK etc
- CI / CD & MLOps for AI
- Model development and fine tuning
- Deep expertise in Prompt Engineering and RAG solutions
- Performance monitoring and optimisation
- Experience developing, deploying APIs using API Gateway
- Familiar with Azure Cloud services related to LLM deployments such as App Service, Azure Functions, Azure container apps
- Azure AI, Data and related services – Azure Open AI, Azure Cognitive Services, Azure AI search, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Data Lake, Microsoft Purview, Power Platform, Microsoft Graph
- Expertise in LLM integration patterns such as MCP, A2A
- Experience in architecting solutions combining On Premises systems and Cloud systems in a regulated environment and using Secure by Design principles.
- Experience with GitHub Copilot or similar tools used in AI-assisted development
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
