The role
You'll work directly with underwriters, analytics teams, operations leaders and other subject matter experts. The job is to understand how complex work actually gets done, find where AI can help, and turn loosely defined ideas into secure, production-ready systems.
This is a hands-on engineering role with real business exposure. You'll own work from the first conversation with a user through to something running in production.
What you'll be working with
- AWS serverless: Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, Textract, Secrets Manager
- PostgreSQL and pgvector, including embeddings, vector search and semantic retrieval
- LLMs through OpenAI and AWS Bedrock, including orchestration and prompt engineering
- Agentic AI: tool calling, function execution, retrieval pipelines, multi-step orchestration and human-in-the-loop workflows
- Document processing: OCR, file conversion and data extraction
- Integrations with Snowflake, Microsoft Graph, enterprise identity systems and internal data platforms
- Real-time patterns using SignalR
- Working with frontend engineers in React and TypeScript

What we're looking for
- Strong backend engineering, ideally in Python and on AWS
- You've built LLM applications that hold up in production. You understand structured outputs, grounding, evaluation, fallback logic, observability, and prompt and version management.
- Experience designing or supporting agentic AI systems
- You're comfortable sitting with non-technical users, understanding their workflow and working out what to build
- You're happy with ambiguity and like owning a problem end to end
